STEM CAREERS

This Community of Practice focuses on STEM careers and gives inGenious teachers the possibility to discuss a number of issues dealing with the topic.

The 4 topics of this CoP are:

1)  Different careers in Industry

2)  Skills provided by the school

3)  Boys vs. girls’ careers

4)  Schools/Industry initiatives to promote STEM careers & diminish stereotypes

Teachers are invited to discuss, share and learn from each other.

Issues that will be tackled among others are:

What skills they believe that schools need to teach students to prepare them well for working in industries?

Do students know enough about different job opportunities in industries, or how could their knowledge be improved?

What could Industries do to make STEM more attractive to young students?

How can teachers contribute to motivate students, especially girls, to be interested in STEM subject and careers?

How can stereotypes about girls and their lack of interest and talent in STEM be defeated?

Teachers are also invited to share examples of how schools try to encourage girls to study STEM and how STEM careers in general are promoted in their schools.

The expert of this CoP, Ann Whent (see her mini CV below), will give her best at sharing different STEM career counselling websites for pupils and will share her expertise on STEM careers.
