Multimedia Teaching Materials on Ammonia Synthesis This practice is composed of a number of multimedia teaching materials which represent the history of the development of ammonia synthesis, one of the greatest achievements in chemistry. The material covers information on scientists who were considerably involved in the synthetic production of ammonia (Justus of Liebig, Fritz Haber, Carl Bosch, Alwin Mittasch), detailed information on the manufacturing process, current information on its economic importance as well as the products which come from ammonia. The technical challenges of the synthesis are also highlighted. The unit closes with an on-line quiz. The animations included in the material take students through the whole process of ammonia synthesis which is split into a total of six steps. The animations can be paused or repeated at any time, until the concepts are fully understood by the students. Parallel to the animation, all information is also offered in text form, which is accompanied by the appropriate chemical formulae. | | Subjects | Age range | Languages | Chemistry | 14 to 17 | de | Technical info | A computer with internet access in order to view all material related to this activity. |
