Topic 1 What is the value of a school/industry cooperation where the pupils work with realworld problems and challenges from the industry?- for the pupils?- for the teacher?- for the industry?
Summary of the week This week the participants discussed the value for pupils, teachers and the industry of these collaborations. The students find cooperating with companies fun, different and motivational - and they gain a lot of knowledge about ’the real world’ and community problems this way. Sometimes it only takes a visit to a company, for example a wind turbine factory, to amaze and inspire the students. The teachers gain a lot too: A different way to teach the curriculum gets the students motivated. But cooperation also has to be scheduled in a way that does not create too much stress on teachers. For the industry the students provide ’fresh brains’ – new attitudes toward problems, that the companies might be stuck in solving themselves. And – the pupils might become future employees! |
